Objective: To outline the best practices for operating IT equipment in order to ensure the most efficient and effective usage of technology throughout the department.

Introduction

Background: Our investigation has revealed a need for practical technology management guidelines in order to streamline data exchange, lower the cost of ownership and increase security, among other things.


Developing a Desktop Standard
Building, using and supporting a standard desktop environment is one of the most significant steps an organization can take towards enhancing productivity and reducing costs. A set of basic guidelines used uniformly throughout the department will contribute to creating this standard. Extensions to this common base of guidelines can be added to address specific group needs in different parts of the department.
